Our Timber Buyer Rosters

Our primary field of expertise at Mott & Shay, PLLC is getting you the highest possible price for your timber when you are ready to
sell. Here is how we make the task of selling your timber easier and more profitable for you: Mott & Shay will:

1) Design the type of sale that meets YOUR objectives.

2) Clearly designate all sale boundaries.

3) Set up all Streamside Management Zones and make certain that your sale is in compliance with environmental regulations.

4) Perform a 100% inventory of the sawtimber size trees by measuring, marking, tallying and computing the volume for each and every tree.

5) Perform a sample cruise of the pulpwood size trees and compute their volumes.

6) Prepare a timber sale notice and advertise to the largest number of buyers possible.

7) Conduct a highly competitive "sealed-bid" sale soliciting bids for your consideration.

8) Help make certain that a proper timber conveyance is prepared and assist with the closing of the sale. We make sure you get paid up front, at the closing, before any timber is cut.

9) Inspect the logging operation regularly and report any violations of the cutting contract immediately.

10) Perform a reforestation inspection upon completion of the logging and assist you with reforestation plans.

Measuring every sawtimber tree and insisting on sealed-bids is the best way to get top dollar for your timber. Since you do not pay Mott & Shay, PLLC until we have conducted a successful timber sale for you, there is "no risk" on your part when you employ us to sell your timber.

The 100%Sawtimber Inventory
"Why We Measure Every Sawtimber Tree"

First and foremost, it is so that you will be paid for each and every one of your most valuable trees - your sawtimber size trees. You have invested all the time and taken all the risks in growing these trees, therefore you owe it to yourself to make certain that you are paid a premium for each and every one of them.

Second, a timber "cruise" used by others in business to estimate timber volumes, may not be worth the paper it's written on! A cruise never shows accurate timber volumes, is almost always short of the actual volume, and significantly decreases the odds of you ever getting top dollar for your timber. An "over-cruise" can be just as dangerous! It causes you to set too high a price and you end up rejecting what may be good offers for your timber.

The third reason is that each tree and each size class has a different value. By measuring every sawtimber tree according to species and size, we eliminate all doubt as to the type, size, and volume of timber. Since these doubts are eliminated in the buyer's minds, more of them are likely to bid on your timber. Many buyers are so confident in our figures, they bid on our timber sales based on our figures alone, sometimes without even seeing the tract. Thus we are able to create greater competition and higher prices for your timber
